This round glazed pot by Swedish ceramic artist Carl-Oscar Gottfries continues his exploration of weight, movement, and surface through a refined grey and blue palette. Solid and substantial in hand, the piece reflects his signature approach: heavy forms paired with softly desaturated, atmospheric glazes.

The silhouette is round but intentionally natural, with a rim that subtly shifts and moves rather than following a strict geometric line. This gentle irregularity gives the pot a quiet dynamism, reinforcing its handcrafted identity.

A thick layer of glaze envelops the surface, flowing downward during firing in controlled drips that extend toward the base. As the glaze settles, it becomes an integral structural and visual element, forming subtle supports that act as feet. The interplay between gravity and material is central to the piece’s character.

The chromatic dialogue between cool grey and layered blue tones creates depth without overpowering the composition. The result is understated yet expressive—perfect for bonsai that benefit from calm, contemporary surroundings. The cooler hues pair beautifully with both deciduous and conifer species, enhancing foliage and bark textures without distraction.

Sculptural and modern, this vessel represents Carl-Oscar Gottfries’ evolving ceramic language—where mass, glaze, and organic imperfection come together in balanced harmony.
