Mauro’s Heritage – Picea Abies

This Picea abies (Norway spruce) stands tall and sinuous, with an elegant movement that draws the eye upward. Its trunk and branches are covered in richly textured bark, a mark of true maturity that only decades of growth can create.

Firmly established in a simple yet timeless terracotta pot, the tree exudes a quiet strength. Unlike many cultivated bonsai that follow traditional forms, this spruce retains the natural character of the alpine landscapes where its species originates. It does not imitate a model—it reflects the forest itself.

As raw material, it is of exceptional quality: well-settled in its pot, with age etched into every curve and fissure of the bark. It offers the passionate artist an extraordinary foundation to work from, combining both authentic maturity and the freedom to shape its future form.

This tree is not only a beautiful piece of material, but also a living reminder of Mauro’s vision—his ability to see bonsai not as replicas, but as living echoes of nature itself.
