Description
Fly is a suiseki stone by Felice Colombari, Italian suiseki artist based in Monza, whose form recalls the image of a bird in motion.
The stone’s silhouette suggests a dove in flight, captured at the moment when the back arches and the body lifts upward. Rather than offering a literal representation, the form remains open to interpretation, allowing movement and lightness to emerge through balance and curve.
The surface shows natural transitions in texture and tone, shaped over time by environmental forces. These variations enhance the sense of motion, reinforcing the impression of wings spreading and a body suspended in air. The stone’s quiet presence invites the viewer to slow down and engage with the form gradually.
As with traditional suiseki, the value of Fly lies in suggestion rather than depiction. It functions as a contemplative object, suitable for display on a stand or within a broader composition, where it introduces dynamism and contrast while maintaining harmony.
