Description
“Mummy” by Felice Colombari is a vertically oriented figure suiseki with an uncanny, evocative presence. Carved entirely by nature from Arenaria stone and displayed in a minimalist Linden wood daiza, the sculpture presents a tall, upright form wrapped in soft, horizontal striations reminiscent of ancient linen bindings. Its warm, sand-colored tone reinforces the visual analogy, conjuring the mysterious image of a mummified figure standing in stillness.
At the summit of the form, a natural white line traverses the head, subtly outlining what appear to be closed eyes, adding an unexpected element of human character and silence to the piece. This striking combination of pattern, texture, and vertical stance transforms the stone into a symbol of timeless preservation, stillness, and reverence.
Felice Colombari brings his signature sensitivity and vision to “Mummy”, allowing the stone’s inherent features to guide the interpretation while presenting it with elegance and restraint. This suiseki merges the spiritual and sculptural, echoing both natural history and human presence.
