Description
Two Peaks and the Pass Between Them
The Suiseki “Saddle” is a twin-peaked landscape stone, its silhouette rising to two distinct summits divided by a deep central notch — the shape mountaineers call a saddle, and the pass a traveller would take between them. Shaped from Palombino, its grey surface bears the mineral veining typical of the stone.
An Italian Stone, Naturally Divided
Found in Italy, this Palombino stone owes its twin-peaked form to the same fracture lines that shape real mountain passes — a single point of weakness that time widened into a notch. Resting on a handcrafted wooden daiza, “Saddle” is displayed so both peaks and the valley between them stay in view together.
A Landscape With Two Points of View
Few suiseki offer two peaks in a single stone. “Saddle” does, and the pass between them is what makes it a landscape rather than simply a shape.
