Bonsai Stand n.4 – “Tiger”

Some oak grows with stripes. Pasquale Tomaselli of Disciplina Bonsai built this small rectangular stand entirely from Slavonian oak, choosing a board with a strong tiger-striped figure for the top.

To let that grain read clearly, he split the colour: a dark wengé stain on the legs and frame, a light walnut tone on the top, and a satin varnish over everything. The dark frame holds the surface the way a mount holds a print.

At 26 × 21 cm and 13 cm high, it is sized for shohin, small accent plants or a suiseki.

Ships in a protective plywood box lined with insulating material. Lift the stand by its frame or from under the top, never by the legs, and keep it dry: water your tree somewhere else and wipe off any drops straight away. One of one.
