Description
An Island Peak, Leaning Into the Sea
The Suiseki “Stromboli” takes its name from the island volcano it recalls — a single dark peak, steep on one flank and sloping long on the other, exactly as Stromboli appears from the water. Shaped from Arenaria, its dark, weathered surface carries the same restless character as the mountain it’s named for.
An Italian Stone, Named for an Italian Island
Sourced in Italy, this Arenaria stone’s uneven silhouette is entirely natural — no two flanks worn the same way, which is what gives it the volcano’s asymmetry rather than a generic peak’s. Resting on a handcrafted wooden daiza, “Stromboli” is displayed low and steep-sided, the way the island itself rises straight from the sea.
A Landscape With a Name Already in It
Not every suiseki asks to be named after somewhere real. “Stromboli” did, from the moment it was found — and the name has stayed with it since.
