Description
A Single Upright Form
The Suiseki “Obelisk” is a slender, vertical figure stone, rising in one clean sweep to a rounded point. Shaped from Palombino, its dark, faintly striped surface runs the length of the piece like drapery, giving the stone the quiet, upright bearing of a standing figure rather than a mountain.
Palombino, Standing Tall
Sourced in Italy, the Palombino stone’s fine vertical graining is a natural feature, not an applied finish — the same lines that appear in flatter Palombino landscapes here run the height of an upright form instead. Set on a handcrafted wooden daiza, “Obelisk” is displayed for height rather than mass, the base doing only enough to let the stone stand.
A Figure Stone for Quiet Rooms
Understated where other figure stones announce themselves, “Obelisk” works by restraint — a single dark form that holds a room without asking much of it.
