This Common Juniper was collected in 2016 from a private front yard, where it had grown for approximately 50 years before entering its journey into bonsai. Since its collection, the tree has been entirely developed by the artist, evolving through years of careful refinement, structural work, and patient observation.

The defining feature of this bonsai is the prominent front shari, which serves as the central element of the composition. This natural deadwood, shaped and preserved over time, provides a dramatic contrast to the living foliage and reveals the story of age, struggle, and endurance within the tree’s history.

The styling focuses on enhancing this natural feature, guiding the viewer’s eye along the interplay between the rugged shari and the dynamic movement of the live veins. The crown and branching structure have been developed to balance the power of the deadwood, creating a harmonious composition rooted in character and authenticity.

This juniper stands as a testament to respectful transformation — a tree once overlooked in a garden, now elevated through thoughtful artistry into a refined expression of natural beauty and time.
