Description
A Gorge Cut Into Stone
The Suiseki “Canyon” is a landscape stone split down its centre by a deep, narrow fissure — nature’s own version of a gorge carved between two flat-topped ridges. Shaped from Arenaria, its tan, sand-worn surface reads like a plateau seen from above, the crack running through it as a dry riverbed might.
An Italian Stone, Split by Time
Found in Italy, this Arenaria stone owes its canyon-like form to the same slow forces that shape real gorges: pressure, fracture, and centuries of weather working along a single line of weakness. Resting on a handcrafted wooden daiza, the stone is presented flat-topped and level, so the fissure at its centre reads clearly as the piece’s defining feature.
A Landscape to Read Slowly
“Canyon” rewards a second look — the kind of stone that changes as the light moves across it. A fitting centrepiece for anyone drawn to landscapes shaped by absence as much as by form.
