Bonsaigers’ X 2025 – Are You Ready?

It’s almost time. The most electrifying online bonsai event is about to return. 32 trees, one champion. Are you ready to enter the arena?

Sharpen your scissors, clean your pot, and make space in the hall of fame, BX25 is coming, and it’s bigger than ever.

Description

Bonsaigers X is a fully online, social-powered international bonsai exhibition and competition. Born out of the desire to bring together bonsai lovers from around the globe, it merges artistic expression, horticultural skill, and community participation into one massive digital event.

Each year, we invite bonsai practitioners to showcase their finest trees in a public tournament format, not just to compete, but to inspire, share, and connect.

It’s not just a contest, it’s a movement. A celebration of the passion, patience, and artistry that defines the bonsai spirit.

The Tournament

BX25 will feature a 32-player single elimination tournament, a high-stakes format where every match counts and only one bonsai can emerge victorious.

Matchups are drawn randomly, ensuring that every participant has an equal shot, no matter their background or style. Each week, new battles will be revealed, featuring pairs of bonsai going head-to-head in a visual showdown.

Participants must survive round after round, from the Top 32 through to the Final, with every victory bringing them one step closer to the title. It’s a competition of skill, presence, and emotional impact, the kind only a truly great tree can deliver.

But what’s a tournament without a worthy panel of judges?

This year, BX25 brings together a select group of bonsai experts whose names will be officially announced before the tournament begins. Their role is crucial: to provide experienced, thoughtful, and unbiased evaluations that complement the voice of the public.

As in past editions, each battle will be decided using a hybrid voting system:

  • The public vote, cast via polls in Bonsaigers’ Instagram Stories, is worth 2 points.

  • Each judge contributes 1 point with their individual vote.

  • The bonsai that collects the highest combined score wins the match and advances to the next round.

This structure gives power to the community while preserving the depth and integrity of expert critique, creating a competition that’s both interactive and meaningful.

Below, you’ll find the portraits of this year’s judges, prominent names in the bonsai space that greatly enriched the voting process of the exhibition. This year’s judges are still a unknown and their identity will be revealed soon.

How To Vote

Each battle will be posted as a poll on Bonsaigers’ Instagram Stories, where the community will vote for their favorite tree between the two.

Once the poll closes, the result will count for 2 points. Then, each judge will cast their individual vote, worth 1 point each.

The bonsai with the most total points wins the matchup.

This hybrid system ensures both community involvement and expert evaluation, striking a balance between popularity and true bonsai craftsmanship.
